The Anna Zoological Park is located on the East side of the south of Madras city. It is situated in the Vandalur Reserve Forest of 32 kilometers and away from Madras city. Here one can watch animals in very specious large open mated island type enclosures.
This place is open for all to visit from 8 AM to 5 PM on every day except Tuesdays. One can easily go to this place from the city as there are many buses from Chennai city to this park.

Vandalur is spread in total 1,265 acres of area and it is the biggest Zoological Park in South Asia. It has a great collection of tropical mammals and birds as well as reptiles as compared to the other zoos. The enclosures for these animals is just like a natural surrounding as it is mad up of vast areas for the animals, so that they can move freely.
Hired bicycles are available for those who want to have a look at such a wonderful beauty on wheels.

This is a standing memorial to the immortal philosopher and Tamil Saint and it is shaped like a temple chariot. It is the replica of the temple chariot in Thiruvarur. Timing to visit this place is from 8 AM to 5 Pm. and it is closed on Friday and national holidays.

It is the World Headquarters of the spiritual society found by Madame H.R Blavatsky and Col. Olcott, and to which Annie Besant and Arundale belonged. It was originally formed in USA. In the year 1886 Adayar was chosen as the main headquarters of the spiritualmovement.
The Headquarters building is having a splendid old mansion look with the gardens of lyrical charm. There are many shrines of all faiths and the Buddhist is especially impressive among all. The Garden for Remembrance is the perfect for peaceful meditation.
There is a library more than 90 years old and the society has an invaluable collection of oriental manuscripts both on palm-leaf and parchment. One can visit this place every Tuesday to Saturday in-between 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM and it is closed on Mondays and public holidays.

This aquarium have many different species of tropical as well as the marine fishes. It is open to all since 2 PM till 8 PM, every week. But on Sundays and public holidays it can be avilable for all in between 8 AM to 8 PM.

St. Thomas Mount is the fort and it is located near the airport. It is one of the places in the city with a great historical importance. It is believed that the Apostle St. Thomas have been pierced to death here. The church named 'Our Lady of Expectations' was built here in the year 1523 by the Portuguese.
Very old stone cross, known as a bleeding cross with Sassanian Pehelevi inscriptions is available to see here.

This Kapaleeshwarar temple is the ancient Shiva Temple. It is located on the Kutchery Road in Mylapore. It is constructed in Dravidian style as well as it is having the architectural elements, which includes gopurams, mandapams. There is a tank, which is found in the famous temple of Tamil Nadu.
The temple got some damages, back in 1566 at the time of Portuguese take over to Mylapore. But it is rebuilt by the Vijayanagar Kings and now it is known as the temple in the 16th century. The 37 metre high Gopuram depicts legends with beautiful carvings on it. Here the Aruvathumoovai named festival is celebrated in the month of March or April.

This is one of the ancient temple of god Shiva. It is located off Kutchery road near Mylapore. This temple has typical Dravidian style Gopuras. It was damaged in the year 1566, at the time when the Portuguese took over Mylapore.
The temple was rebuilt by the Vijayanagar Kings in the 16th century. The 37 meter high Gopuram depicts many of the legends through the beautiful carvings on it.
The 'Aruvathumoovai' named festival is celebrated here in the month of March or April.

In this deer park, you can see a huge number of fast dwindling Black Bucks known as Indian Antelopes, Spotted Deers, Civet Cats, Jackals, Mongoose and different types of species of monkeys.
This place is open to all from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and it is closed on Tuesdays. The snake park is having collection of rare snakes. This is open to all from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
